4mación* is the work** between a human named Kristian Dahlbom and their computer music counterpart performing together en vivo through the creation of living sound. PASSION FRUIT (2021) by 4mación explores the sweet, tart, silly, brutal, and primordial sounds that are the result of different instances of co-performance between the two parties. Often using machine learning tools, Kristian interfaces with their counterpart through cameras, laptop keys, and physical motion sensors that activate and inject life into the music-generating process. The resulting sounds express an uncanny aliveness though created through data transfer and computer algorithms. Kristian is a Swedish and Mexican-American composer/performer from Los Angeles living in the San Francisco Bay Area. They are currently inspired by xenobots and Hercules beetles.
